Seasoned collectors to the casual browsers; amateur photography enthusiasts to the serious art student – all will find a captivating reason to linger just a little longer when visiting this new Water Street District gallery. Dedicated to exhibiting emerging and established artists as well as contemporary and historical photography, The Water Street Gallery (WSG) opened showcasing the work of renowned artist Robert Beckman. In addition to exhibits featuring local and national artists, The WSG has the distinctive opportunity to display the photography of its owner, Fred Sigman III whose wildlife, travel and historical photography is internationally acclaimed. In addition to the art, the personal demeanor of gallery’s manager Fred Sigman IV, and the owner’s son, makes stopping at this gallery a special experience.
Besides organizing and curating exhibitions, The WSG Studio, under the direction of Fred IV, whose background includes photographic printing and video editing, offers artist services including reproducing originals as limited edition giclèe prints, portfolios in the nineteenth century processes of platinum/palladium and carbon for photographers who want to print and publish their body of work, and complete video shooting and editing capabilities for artists interested in presenting their work and biographical information in a video format.
The Water Street Gallery has developed a niche in the Las Vegas Valley as a gallery that educates its customers about the art, its process and the artist. Furthering this commitment to creative excellence, The WSG organizes art, photography and writing workshops throughout the year, which are held at both the Water Street District studios and on location. For the photography workshops, the Studio has a Color and a Black & White darkroom, with a Beseler enlarger capable of handling 8x10" negatives. Color prints, such as Type-C, are processed using Jobo equipment up to 20x24". The photography workshops offered include "Platinum Printing," "Large Format Portrait Photography," and "Silver Gelatin Printing." The Studio also uses MacPro computers and Epson printers for digital photography workshops.
