Spurlock’s Gun Shop has been serving Henderson residents and beyond for more than 11 years. The store’s owners, Rance and Pat Spurlock, are long-time residents of Henderson. In fact, Rance has lived in the area for more than five decades.
The shop specializes in firearms and accessories and caters to a clientele of hunters, sportsmen and recreational shooters. The store also offers handguns for target practice or self protection, and holds a weekly Concealed Carry Weapons permit class taught by a National Riffle Association, Nevada and Utah certified instructor.
Rance Spurlock is a professional gun smith by trade and offers his clients a wide variety of services including repairs, cleanings, new parts, trigger adjustments and mount scopes. Spurlock and his wife feel this is one service that sets them apart from other competitors all across the Valley.
“We have been really fortunate over the years. We have employees who have been with us for seven and eight years, and the business has been good to us,” Rance Spurlock said. “As the town has grown, so has our business. We have a great customer base that appreciates that we service what we sell and so we get most of our business from word-of-mouth. We recently bought a building and moved locations and we haven’t had to do any advertising of our new location. In fact, January has been our best month ever.”
The shop has always been located in the Water Street District, and was first located on Basic before moving to its new location on West Pacific in December 2008. Spurlock’s Gun Shop took advantage of the Façade Improvement Program and the Sign Program offered by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Henderson.
“It made sense for us to move locations and own our own building,” Spurlock said. “And the Redevelopment Agency was great in helping us navigate through the process to complete our façade improvements and get a new west facing sign for our building and new customers stop in every day to see who their new neighbor is.”
